Hi,
Is there anyone out there that has done the 3 hour Red Seal exam for CARPENTERS, (it's the challenge Exam)
My husband needs to do the exam next month and asked me to find out if any one else had done it and what it was like and how did you prepare for the exam.
Any advise would be appreciated
Thanks
Deb

I did it for auto technician whilst on vacation before we moved to Canada. In and out within 20 minutes whilst all the other guys there from the local colleges were scratching their heads over question 1. It was all multiple choice, fairly obvious answers. There was a book that the colleges use which was recommended to me. I read it on the flight over which was useful as alot of the terminology is different.
Hope this helps.

Automotive Principles and Service by Thiessen and Dales

Better check it's still the required reading though. Whereabouts are you looking to move to?

You could call them and find out what prep guides your
husband needs to read up for the exam.
BCIT has a book store that sells the CODE books
and text books.http://www.bcit.ca/bookstore/hours.shtml

I am not sure if this is helpful or not. My UK partner landed a month back and he is working in his trade as an air conditioning and refrigeration engineer. He wants to get this red seal qualification for his trade. He is signed up for this government funded programme where a counsellor will guide where he is at with a computer type of test and then see if he is really ready to challenge the test. This government funded programme pays two thirds of the cost for the textbooks that he needs and also all or most of all of the red seal exam. The counsellor that is helping him is great and they are often in touch via e-mail. Hope that this information is helpful. If I find the brochure I will add that to this thread....
