Hi Chapbob,I have just been investigating the same thing regarding pet travel and was surprised and disaaponited to foind out that Air transat do not take pets any more. Further investigation led to me to Zoom which a Canadian airline and does take pets. 4 tickets oneway economy class to Toronto at the the beginning of September would cost about 200 ponuds each including taxes.

are these prices for people or pets, and are the pets in the main aircraft or another part of the plane??

Prices are for people, not sure what pets cost but it is proportional to weight.
Try looking at the following link:

All airlines will transport all pets in the hold. Zoom's agents (Ladyhaye) charged us about 2100 pounds for two rottweilers. That included crates, all vet expenses and 2 days kenneling.
Hope this helps

All pets have to travel in the hold, with the luggage as such.
Air Canada are not accepting any more pets booked in as excess baggage after July 15th which costs just £125, so now you have to book them in thru the Cargo branch and it costs a lot more.
My pussycat and i fly out on Tuesday, LHR - YVR, and i will report back on how she deals with the experience.

Basically you have 2 choices.
One is to book with a charter airline like Zoom and then pay the extra for a freight company like Ladyhaye.
The other is to book with Air Canada (until 15th July anyway) and they will take pets at the check-in desk. Costs $245 plus the cost of the kennel but well worth it.
If you go the first route then shop around for the freight quote. There are loads out there and the prices differ greatly. We found Ladyhaye the most expensive. A cheaper company is Jets4Pets.
If you leave it until after the 15th July you will only have one option, the first one. Remember that going this route means a longer journey and more stress for you and your pets.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
