Hi I have seen some mention of OHIP. I know what it stands for but why do you need it if you have to have medical insurance?
Are there different levels of medical insurance and what costs they cover?
Thanks Fi x

Otherwise google for more info. Try looking under the Canada Health Act and health insurance

Also you have to be in Ontario 3 months before you are eligible for OHIP so you should have Insurance to cover you while you wait.

You dont have to have medical insurance if you are eligible for OHIP. OHIP is the Ontario Provincial medical insurance plan, the health service. However you do not get various services with OHIP, notably prescriptions, dental, eye tests, OP physio etc so many people have insurance top up as a perk from work.
