we are hoping to move out early 2008, with our 3 children, ages 15, 13 and 11, where abouts are you looking to settle?
my guess is
weather... anything other than rain, rain, rain is a bonus
cost of living....probably not a lot different, some thing cheaper, some not
Education....more of a focus on the whole child, not how good results will look on reports
Health Care...there are probably more experienced people on this website who can offer more informative info.
Good luck

Firstly Congratulations. I hope the move goes well.
Answers to your questions. Weather - we were here 6 months before we saw any rain.... bonus. The dry climate is so much better than damp and drookit. This is our first summer and so far it is so hot! Never thought I'd be sitting indoors away from the sun. Even in the winter there is so much blue sky and sun, you're going to love it.
Cost of Living - Yep, some things more, like fresh produce, go to a farmers market, much better. Other things cheaper, or to describe it better... better value and more quantity for your money.
Education - no kids
Health - Far far better, from our experience. We have good insurance which helps, but our dentist has picked up on things that a UK dentist wouldn't be willing to spend the time or money on. Plus our Dr has done thorough testing of us (blood) to get an idea and some sort of baseline, although we did have to wait 6 months to find one that was taking on new patients.
Hope that helps, but feel free to PM us should you need any more info.
All the best
