Moved: ADVICE ON GOOD AREAS TO LIVE IN ONTARIO?
Hi, Can anyone suggest any good areas around Toronto or Ottawa for a family to live. We would preferably like an area with a good high school, reasonable house prices that is commutable to either of these two cities. I was looking into the area of Barrie or Guelph around Toronto or Naepan in Ottawa. Also Is there any areas which should be avoided? Thanks for your help

We are going to Barrie, were very impressed with schools, have 7yr and 2 yr olds. When we visited in April we visited 2 schools and were very happy with what we found. House prices are very reasonalbe, £200,000 will get us a nice 4 to 5 bed house, double garage, and a decent size lot (increasing to a 1/2 acre plus by moving 10/15 minutes drive from city centre). The infrastructure seemed pretty good, new hospital going up, GO link going in. Highways straight to Toronto. Also the scenery was very nice. We would prefer to be to the North of the city, probably going out towards Midhurst, Craighurst, Shanty Bay, Oro areas. Somewhere i will be very happy to grow old.

York region has a good spread of houses in every price bracket and not too far away from Toronto - lots of new housing going up between Aurora and Newmarket along the 404 corrider

Please do a search/provide more details before asking such general questions.
