Im planning to move to the Toronto region in October. I want to buy a new home but the home would not likely be completed by then or may be i will buy/move in to a home by Jan 1st. So... in this situation what would you guys do ? I will be renting a UHaul and driving into Toronto from NY. So I need a place to stay till Jan. So what do I do ?
I dont think i can rent a house for 3 months or an apartment for 3 months ? can i get such a short lease ?

Its not common, but you may get lucky. We did...........negotiated a 3 month lease on a condo nr Edmonton.

It is possible but do take care to get it in black and white and make sure you get a copy. We nearly got stung but had gotten a receipt to say that our last payment was full and final settlement ! Not sure if we lost the copy or did not get one but they wanted to chase us for 12 months rent. We called up the building management Co. and told them in no uncertain terms where to go and faxed em our receipt. even in small towns you can usually find something. Toronto should prove easier.
