Summer will be along in July! Get used to periods of weather like this, hot/cold/hot/cold/snow/hot/rain/hot/cold

Hi,
Could anyone tell me what weather to expect at the end of May, begining of June? we are coming for a holiday, staying near Red Deer and hopefully moving out permanently next year. Thanks :)

I would expect everything except Pea Soup Fog. That way nothing will suprise you.

And NO I am not being sarcastic. My birthday is May 26th and in the last 3 years I have experienced Snow (that settled and was at least 4 inches), low 20s, Minus figures, Hail and Rain. (Some of them on the same day :p)

I'd agree with Butch. You can expect warm weather - shorts/t-shirt. You can expect cold weather - Jumper/Jackets. If your planning a trip into the rockies - then you will need Jumpers/Jackets for the evenings if not for the days too.

At the moment it's about -4 in Red Deer, I've just walked the dog, I had a raincoat, jumper and jogging bottoms on and a hat and gloves, the sun is warm the air is cold. I was hot when I got back but I did need the gloves and hat.

Expect anything..............I've got a friend visiting at the end of May and he asked me the same thing. For example last week in Calgary on Monday & Tuesday it was in the low 20's and sunny, then on Wednesday the temp plumetted and we've had snow on and off since then!

We agree.

This table may give a feel for June weather in Red Deer. This is from last year but you can flip back and forth between years.

Our weather watch gives a flavour of life a bit further south, down around Okotoks, High River and the like.

I think they were having a moan about the snow!!! The robins have just arrived from California, or wherever it is they sensibly overwinter, ... and the jackrabbits have just lost their winter white coats! Bless 'em!

Oh come on surely you miss the rain too.

One of the reasons we chose Kelowna was the weather, couldn't live with never ending winters.

That's when the snow season ends and the rainy season starts.

Here's some stats on Calgary's weather.

Ahh that word brings back memories "Rain!" I still find it hard to believe how little it rains in the Okanagan, since we got here last August we've only had approx 2-3 days of what I would call proper rain, as when they say "70% chance of showers" it's only a slight drizzle for about 10-20 minutes if your lucky!lol

The weather was a major factor in us choosing Kelowna over the Island, bring on the summer.
