Default moose jaw?

Hi! Well alot of location research has pulled me towards Moose Jaw.. don't ask me why or how lol I really like the look of the place, house prices seem to be reasonable - i just get a good feel about it.. instincts and all that! Am I on the right track? is there anyone here who has been or lives there? would love some feedback please! (good OR bad!)
I feel good that I am drawn to a place at the moment as for now its one place to concentrate on and gather info etc!
I would like anyones view please!
Is it a good place to bring up my 5 children? Are there any areas to avoid in moose jaw?
tons of thanks in advance!

There has been a recent thread about Saskatchewan and Moose Jaw if you do a wee search. I have just driven through it before and it is a very nice town, lots of schools, churches, is called the Friendly City and they have a good country music station if you like that sort of stuff. Saskatchewan people are very friendly, we have been here a month now and not once have we encountered anyone who hasn't been nice to us, either young or old - and that says something, eh? Moose Jaw also has a lovely spa Temple Gardens

Thank you Alvicsk! I will do a search! In where to live in Canada, I am looking for a smallish place - not a massive bustling city, and if its as friendly as you say, then that makes it all the more desirable! thanks for your input!

I would ignore the stupid comments. Chances are these people have never been within 1000 miles of Moose Jaw.

Here is the most recent thread

I really like Moose Jaw. We go there to visit the Spa and there are some nice restaurants - of course if you want London - don't go to Moose Jaw!

They have a really nice public pool with water slide. I used to take my granddaughter and her friends there all the time because we don't have a nice pool like that in Regina.

Thumbs up Re: moose jaw?

hello! Thanks!!! i kind of chose to ignore the 'cryptic' comments from the couple of people that answered my post! I didn't have a clue what they were on about and without taking the time to explain themselves, well I find their comments useless!
thanks for the link! All in all it sounds great to me - I am far from wanting London! I currently live in a small rural village in warwickshire UK, and I am after the same quiet life I have here really, so Moose Jaw is looking better and better by the minute!
Your advice is appreciated!
Many thanks!!!!

There is a book written by Will Ferguson called "Beauty tips from Moose Jaw". By all accounts a very good read. People on here tend to have a bit of sense of humour as well as providing excellent advice. Perhaps you could cut them a bit of slack.

Zoe:
I am not wishing to enter into an arguement, but I very politely asked for some feedback of Moose Jaw... I have a very good sense of humour thank you, and no doubt I would have laughed along with Ben w bell's comment if they had of elaborated their comment instead of a cryptic one liner like that and then not returning to explain it or actually add a proper informative view of Moose Jaw whether it be good or bad!
From what I can see on these boards, most people are in seek of advice, tips and support from people who have or are looking to make the move to canada, and the amount of brilliant helpful people far outweigh the useless comments!
I was not moaning about the comments made - merely pointing out that they were 'useless' which is very true... can you explain to me how that comment could be constructive to me? Actually... its ok... don't bother, because in short.... it can't!
I am extremely grateful to all who have provided any info I have read so far on these boards.. i have to say, I would have known nothing really if it was not for here! So thanks all!!!!
I can quite easily have a laugh and a joke with the next guy..... and I don't need to be told to cut someone slack, when the only person to take any offence from what i said, was you!
Like I said.. it was not a complaint... was merely stating a fact!
oh! and your view on Moose Jaw is?.....................................

It's unfriendly and alienating. It's fine to have a sense of humour and to make a joke, but not at the expense of a newcomer.

Thanks for that! you are very right! x

On one of these posts someone mentioned the restaurant in the old house in MJ - I found a link for it.

I agree with what you said. When a newcomer arrives on the board its not very nice to be confronted with what sounds like snarky remarks or "in" jokes. Its best to wait until the newcomer gets the "in" jokes or else its kind of like coming into a room and having people whispering behind their hands! Not very polite!

Hi, do a search for Welshlady and roanin, they live in Moosejaw they have given me some info on where to go when I visit. I have been there twice but it was only a fleeting visit on each occassion. I cannot wait to visit the Temple Garden Hotel were the spa is, need a bit of pampering in the winter lol.

I hope you do move to Moosejaw cos it will be more people to meet up with.

Good luck

Hello Sugarthief, and welcome to the forum. I have lived here for 21 years now, having emmigrated from Croydon, London in 1987. It was not our intention to settle in Moose Jaw, but as you can see, it got a grip on us. You have arrived at a superb choice of destination. The only people who will decry this city, are those who have never stayed here for a while, or those who have, and it did not suit them. All other commentators just like to see their own words in print! so just ignore them. I am currently involved with supplying information to another potential immigrant to Moose Jaw, and would be willing to give you the real low-down on this part of Canada. Please send me a personal e-mail connection, and we will communicate via that means.
Roanin
