Hi,
I need to transfer some money from UK bank accounts to Canadian bank account. What is the best and cheapest way to do?
Some banks offer very low exchange rate and charge for international transfer.
I had been using HSBC bank UK to HSBC Canada but the rate is quite low.


There are web exchange sites- are they safe to use? Most of them ask to register first before they give any rates and charges...


Any ideas please

Use the forum search, there are enough threads on here about FX to keep you busy for months.

We used HiFx. don't even think about using your bank, they just can't compete with the exchange rate.

We had no problems exchanging our money. You will have to register online with them but it's all straight forward.

Banks can give the same rates or better than other FX brokers, but it is unlikely over the counter. Banks have their own FX broker departments.

I've used transferwise a few times now and it's cheap, fast and super easy!

I used TransferWise recently to transfer substantial funds for a house purchase and I save lots of money by not going with the typical banks! Transferwise beats anyone out there hands down!
