Hello everyone!
My husband and I are trying to emmigrate to Canada but I may have to live in England until our house sells. We'd appreciate it if anyone knows a way fro him to send money home to me? We thought the HSBC bank would be the answer but no joy. Thanks.

This Wiki article may help...I realise it is aimed at moving money from the UK to Canada but I'd imagine many of the routes are the same in reverse.

We have HSBC accounts in both UK and Canada and using global transfer find it very easy to use and rates usually not too bad

HSBC international are really reliable and a goop option to use, if you sign up to open an account in Canada it will be even easier to transfer money between each accounts.hope this helps.

Thanks to everyone for your help and we will look further into the HSBC re: opening accounts at both ends of the globe! Some of you were concerned why we thought HSBC was no good, but it's because we contacted the HSBC Canada and they weren't too knowledgeable. (or maybe they were confused?!)

We did the setting up for Canada account in the UK and spoke to the International section and they was great, completed the forms on the phone and just had to nip into local branch for them to confirm who we said we was and get photocopies of passports. Easily sorted and cards/cheque books sent to UK address so had everything sorted money transferred before we moved. Initially global transfer took a few days but ones after that was done very quickly

Hi,
do it through the uk, you have to pay £100 and they are very clued up on the whole process, you get a canadian current, savings and foreign currency account which you can keep your pounds in and exchage when need be and you also get a credit card.
