Hi,
My husband and I are coming out to Okotoks in April for our reccie trip with out 2 year old daughter and I would love to come along to one of your get togethers and speak to you all about your moves and how it went and whether it's as wonderful in Canada as you first thought etc.
If you wouldnt' mind us gatecrashing that would be really great. We fly out on 31st March until 14th April.
Thanks, Dee

Welcome to British Expats Rob_and_Dee. Best wishes with your research trip. For us at least, despite some challenges (mainly around missing family and friends and family member illness - better to say that than suggest all is always completely plain sailing), it has worked out well and other than for visits, we are not rushing back to the UK anytime soon. Okotoks is certainly a very family oriented place although Calgary and sourrounds offers many good locations for families.

Eamonn & Janet.

Hi Rob and Dee

Sounds like there are loads of us descending on Okotoks in the next couple of months so there should be plenty of us to quiz alongside 'oldies' like Eamonn and Sam-in-Okotoks.

Good luck with your recee.

The Ross Family

PS. Hope you guys don't mind being called 'oldies':D

Hi All,

So when is the 1st coffee gathering? I am up for coffee and a bun and a good old chat.

It a great way exchanging information and I may just try something new that I haven't done in the UK.

Look forward to venues and dates.

KJM:)

PS Newbie to Okotoks:)

Hi Sam,
Thanks for that I am free most of the time we are there, hoping to catch up with Eamonn and Janet before they head back to the UK but after 3rd April I will be free most days for coffee and donuts! Would be lovely to meet up with some people while we are out there so at least we have some contacts should we decide to relocate!
Thanks, Dee

No problem, I'll send you my contact details and you are welcome to pop in anytime, just give me a shout when you arrive. I'm thinking about the 1st Saturday of the month for the coffee meeting so we will be looking at April 04th. If you need any help planning the research trip or arranging accommodation just give me a shout. My website explains a little about what we do. Sam

Sorry for not replying sooner, but packing has taken over my life:)
We are flying out on Monday 16 Feb (I know it's a bank holiday). We have been lucky enough to get an apartment through another relocation business and very lucky for us it is in the catchment of DMG! We have been told that their teachers have a conference on the Thursday and Friday of our arrival week, so daughter will not be joinging until Monday 23 Feb hopefully. I cannot believe how many newbies are descending on Okotoks, I never knew there were this many Brits in town!!! Really looking forward to meeting you all and once we have our own home happy to host a coffee morning too!!
