Default Mobile phone contracts...advice needed

Hello,

I'm moving out to Toronto in 3 weeks time and just wanted some advice on which network provider to go with. We were out there a couple of weeks ago for a few days and my husband popped into a Rogers store and seemed quite happy with what was on offer but I thought I would just ask you guys.

We will definitely be in Toronto (Beach/es area) for at least 2 years, I would like unlimited texts (are free international texts an option?), unlimited Internet access and good call time allowance

Many thanks

Yes free international text are an option on some plans but you need to ensure it within the plan. I would shop around, I find the likes of rogers and bell to be expensive. You can go with a cheaper alternative but still get good coverage as some of these companies are owned by the big boys. We are with Koodo but they are part of Telus so no issues on coverage.

They are all pretty much as bad as each other from my experience. Great to deal with until you have a contract. Virgin is Bell Canada. I was with Virgin, never again, they messed up from the beginning to the end, even extending my contract without asking me.

Haha yes - farting kids!
Actually Wind is proving pretty good- we may all move to that in Sept when our crappy Rogers contract ends!

Thanks everyone for the advice. Glad I didn't let the hubby sign up to Rogers! X

You won't be any more or less pleased with any of them. Many people I know do three years with one, then go on to the next for the best deal at the time. Cell users in Canada don't get a good dealthe calls come over many of the same towers as land line calls, but we pay through the nose (and put up with it).

Support Mobilicity and Wind. They offer good service (if your area is covered) and their prices are the best.
Sometimes they have $25 for unlimited data on Mobilicity.

KOODO no activation fee, no cancellation fees, they put 10% of your bill on a tab to use for upgrades, free international txts great plans that are cheap. they are awesome. steer clear of bell and rogers 3yr contracts expensive and im pretty sure they still charge an incoming txt message charge (WTF i know)
