Default Mission ,BC

It seems to me that Maple Ridge has become popular with british people but has anyone been thinking of living in Mission? Is that place any good? Is it yet to be explored or is it complete dump?

I think the place allegedly has a reputaion for red-necky drug problems?
Dont be put off, as some will say this about most areas of the Lower Mainland
I know a lot of investers are buying there, as prices are more resonable.
To me driving through it appears pleasant enough and actually has a resonable scale main drag, as opposed to some of the strips you see in the valley.
Good train to Vancouver, which I think is a great asset.
Nice setting
Easy access to US (if that does it for you)
Has most of main stores, and Abbotsford with more facilities is 15-20 mins drive away.

Hi,
We had all sorts of questions about the place, before moving out here almost a year ago and we love it. There is much more to it than meets the eye and, yes, it's true there are drugs issues, but that's a BC (nay, world-wide) problem.

As for us, we have it all on our doorstep here. A fantastic leisure centre for the kids, an array of schools to choose from, great scenery on your doorstep, a small downtown core, good shopping for all your staples, Westcoast Express shuttle to Vancouver in 1hr10mins. The access to everything is pretty good here. It also depends where in Mission you decide to live. It's true you get more bang for your buck, but that's rapidly changing. We love it here because we're at the top end of Mission high on a hill. We had more snow than most this year as a result but at least we're away from the 'dodgy areas' which can't be avoided as all towns everywhere have them. It's still safer and cleaner than anywhere else we've been to. It also depends on how you choose to live. If you want the nightlife and excitement, move to a city. If you're looking for a small residential suburb, Mission has some great neighbourhoods.
Feel free to PM if you like.
