off topic but i think I've found a real indian restaurants.

Its called Vedas The Indian Restaurants on 3rd street between chesterfield and Lonsdale in North Van. Better than all the Indians I was at in the UK recently. Very friendly, good portions, clean, prices are not exactly cheap, but the lunch special (10 bucks is)

first curry i have ever ordered here hot, that was boarderline too hot!

If you want a good turnout, I'd recommend something in an evening, and in a pub. People can be flexible about when they come and go then rather than with a big sit down meal.

OK. I think we should first do a drink evening out to know each other then a sit down meal. Sounds a lot better. there are two nice pubs I know one is the one dboy said in yaletown ( brew pub) very nice and the other one is in the village west vancouver opposite the wholefood supermarket. I will findout about them and let you all know. Date wise it has to be around end of next month then everyone would be here too.
Just one question?! how about children? I have a 13 year old son and I thought it would be good if the children could meet up too. Any suggestion?

The kids thing is a good idea, although possibly perhaps at a different time to keep the miserable old goats less miserable, and tbh, the kids would have more fun if they were doing something active.

My 8 year old daughter had a pretty grim July/Aug until she started school as we were so busy setting up the rented house and running around, so I know how she felt when she got to mog around with someone closer to her own age

Lucky bassstad! All the rubbish ones that sprang up from time to time on the NS that raised our hopes, then dashed.

YOu cant get kids in pubs can you? You know you'll all meet up at 5... shooters by 5.30 and all home by 6.

Yes I second this sentiment.....I have been compared to the lolly pop catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang when it comes to my view on small people...

Mine will be in the UK (she is 20..so I have not cruelly abandoned her..unless you ask her of course, she may have a different view )

The Yaletown Brewing Co. is more central so may attract more people than North or West Van.

It's a lot nearer for me, not that I am being selfish about this.
