If anyone wants to open a bank account before they come over. I would suggest speaking to Adrian Matthews at the HSBC in Keynsham. He sorted out our account ( and others before us) very quickly and knows what he is doing.

Thanks for that we were only discussing banking last night. I will get in touch with him. How is your new life? pretty hectic I would guess.

Hi Debi,
Yes we have been very busy. I started work after the first week so my wife has been busy on the domestic front.
We moved into a new house on the weekend. We bought a new build in Maple Ridge and the whole process took only 2 weeks. The house IMHO is stunning in green belt land and we could never of dreamed of such a house in Bristol.
The cost of the house is more or less the same as the one I left in the UK, same mortgage and equity balance but twice as big.
Keep in touch
Ta

Sorry, been busy. We're in south Wales in a little town just outside Cardiff. We know Bath reasonably well so shouldn't be a problem getting there. It'll be a welcome day out after all the stress and strain recently. If we remember (remind us!) we'll bring pics of our various hols and some info about housing, if you'd like. Where are you thinking of settling? Do you plan to go via PNP, skilled or other route? We're both teachers, so hopefully (though it's not looking great at the moment) we'll find something when we get there. It's pretty difficult getting all the things together just for registration purposes! Canadian red tape, eh?!
Speak to you all soon,
Cheers,

We will meet in the Play park how about by the lost childrens area on the right as you go in. or any suggestions please. I will get one of the children to bring a their canadian cut out of a mounty (It is not a full size one) dont want anyone thinking we are strange
We will be there before 2pm as it might look a bit odd for those of you without children hanging around in a playpark
Looking forward to meeting you all

Hi Sid and Lou
Looking forward to meeting you.We are thinking about Ontario at the moment and are going skilled worker route. Will possibly go out looking for a job at some stage as we cant take much more of this country.Having a bad couple of months our car keeps getting vandalised its just petty but costing us a fortune.

Dougee, I am so excited!!! I see you are in Maple Ridge, and so am I - and I'm also from Bristol!! Probably much longer in the tooth than you = been here 30 years. But in all those years, I've only met one other person from Bristol. Please get in touch, send me an email if you can.

Hi Debi, whereabouts in Bristol do you live? I'm from there, was just back there for a 3 week holiday - which turned into 4 weeks because my husband got sick and ended up in the BRI. Fabulous care there. I live in Maple Ridge, BC. Been here many years. I think it's a great idea for you guys to get together and share your experiences and thoughts on emigrating. A support group of a kind. Wish we'd been able to do that. We came out here 30 years ago without ever having visited even. But we got by, made good lives for ourselves, though we knew no-one here! Just out of curiosity, why do you want to leave Bristol? I go back there every year, and must admit that this time it was hard to leave. It's a lovely city, and so much beautiful countryside all around it. Am I right in thinking everyone is up to their ears in debt back there? Because no-one seems to be wanting for anything. Just curious.
Good luck to you, wish I could join your get together at Bath Park - I was there about 3 weeks ago, during the kids school holidays, and there was a carnival there, so it was very busy.

Possible 10 at the moment I think.Only about 4 kids need more kids to come so mine are not the loudest there.
Should be a nice day if the weather is good.

Hi Annette
I hope your husband is on the mend now.Bristol is great and the BRI is a good hospital. We are in Thornbury about 15 miles outside Bristol in a little town. We do like Bristol it is a great biker city which is what attracted us before children. But there is no space for the kids to just go off and play safely, I have to sign them up for activities to get them out of the house and enjoy life.Everything is so built up here and My husband has to work so hard and has not got much time with the kids,we want to try and change all that.Plus we have no ties to the UK, I am Irish and my husband was born in Germany. I really want the seasons and a fresh start.
It would have been lovely to meet you, maybe next year when you come back to Bristol

Whats that?
Seriously the forecasters here in Calgary keep telling us we are gonna have a wet weekend, but I see no evidence. Oh well I guess we'll just have to suffer these blue skies a bit longer........................
