Default Medicals

Hi All

Weve recently sent off our police reports and now await the medical call up. Can anyone tell me what they do. Is it a blood and urine sample and overall check on you physically. My husband and kids keep asking me but I dont really know. Ive just read a thread about someone worrying about being overweight . I'm not worried about any of us in particular with any issues but would like to know whats entailed.

No they do not decline you for being overweight, it really depends on which route you are going through, x-rays, hiv test, blood and urine test, eye sight, general health questions, any alcohol and drug issues questions asked, really just depends, breath in and out, check eyes, ears, touch tummy hard.... best thing to do is type in medicals under the search or look at the wiki and you can find lots of information regarding this....hope this helps and good luck.

We lived in Canada at the time of our medicals but whether here or the UK some ladies have had their breasts examined for lumps and had to undergo a cervical smear (called pap test here) if you can't prove you have had one recently in the UK. Mr Y-C-D got the cough, cough testicular test and his prostate was checked too.

Thanks for that. Im sure my husband and son will love that test ha ha.......

Do you know if my daughter who is 15 has to have a medical too ? I know she didnt need a police check because of her age but never thought until now whether she will have to have a medical ?

From what I read on the search and wiki it seems standard, blood, urine, xray and physical look and prod at you. Its funny but I got a wii fit for my birthday and set it up yesterday and it told me my bmi etc and its given me a kick really to get myself in gear to be healthier. Trouble was I laughed that much doing some of the tasks I thought will it ever help me get fit. Anyway plus im doing slimming world so by the time I go I will be a new woman (hopefully ha ha...)

Yes - our ten year old just missed it because she was about to turn 11, which is when we were told she would also need one. Younger kids get one too but it is very basic - height, weight, letter chart, etc. It'll be fine!

We all underwent medicals in uk last year -
husband, wife and 3 month old - usual basics and questions regarding lifestyle etc
To put yr mind at ease - no smear test or breast examination for my wife
Blood pressure, reflexes and blood test for usual HIV, Hepatitis etc
Height, weight and interestingly distinguishing marks on body which includes tattoos !!!
Baby was weighed and measured and light reflexes

Good luck

No, 15 years and up unless the child has had blood products or the mother is HIV+

If you have tattoos I believe you have to get checked for hepatitis.
