Not entirely sure in what context you are looking for it , are you a doctor ? If so wouldn't your licensing body be the best source of info?
If younare a first aider/responder at work then I believe that the Canadian red cross automatically give you o much legal liability coverage f you are certified with them

Sorry to confuse you Zoe,
No, I'm not a doctor or a first aider, but a mature student who needs to go on a work placement in order to finish off my degree but being that my degree is British, I don't have any coverage through my Uni whereas Canadian students (I'm told by organisations here) are covered through their schools/uni's.
Anyway, I've been told that I need to take out medical malpractice insurance and wanted to know if anyone had first-hand experience of this.

Maybe I'm being ignorant here ( it has been known
) but I thought that medical malpractice would , by definition , be limited to those practicing medicine. Maybe you are looking for something that is called something else here?

Yes, I have experience in with this type of insurance- both as an underwriter and as an insurance broker.
What type of work is it you're involved in, and for how long?

Zoe, all people who work with patients have malpractice insurance. Sometimes through a professional body membership and sometimes individual.

When I was at college here I went on work placements, one in a hospital and one in a health unit. The hospital placement was when I was an international student. Insurance was provided by the college both times. They had some government issue forms to fill in, not sure if they were Federal or Provincial though. Not sure from your post if you have a Canadian Uni connection or are arranging this yourself.

Mine works in strange ways most of the time. Technically you are correct though as only a medical doctor would want medical malpractice insurance, the rest of us would have clinical malpractice.

you appear to have learned more than me then
