I'm ashamed to say that we did no work for this- looking back I'm glad that we didn't as it really just involves stuff that you would know through GP experience and so it wasn't wasted time. Don't worry about it, you should be fine!

As stinkypup said, QE1 is easy but taxing as it is 4+3hrs if I remember correctly...all computer based MCQ and short answer writing...
i did spent 4 weeks prep. used Qbank. but there is also LLMC website but too detail so never used it..
good luck...

I'm not sure that either are really needed- Q Bank is better than it was- we got the books did some reading but on reflection probably didn't gain a huge amount from doing the minimal reading that we did. Working in Canada helps to some degree. If you feel compelled then either would be relevant though possibly not necessary!

Quite a bit for that one, bloody stressful exam too! I hate OSCEs. We did a prep course at UBC in Vancouver before the exam which was really useful. Again, they are looking for your ability to follow cues from the patients, empathy etc, not just knowledge. They look for good communication skills.

He will be fine. He just needs to try and treat the stations how he would in his clinic. How has he prepared? I seem to remember that there were some quite good books on clinical OSCEs that I also browsed.

Watching a lot of clinical exam videos online... Not so much brushing up on theory but like you said earlier...more how you treat a patient.

They are just residents exam aren't they? So theoretically a well experienced doctor should be just fine... Fingers crossed!

I forgot- that is also what we looked at, on line stuff. You are right, it is designed for residents- an experienced GP trained in the UK will be fine! ... Just stressed - can you imagine two of us equally on edge in the household before it... It wasn't an easy kennel to live in!
He will need a stiff drink or three to unwind afterwards. Will keep our fingers and paws crossed for him!

Thank you!

Oh and to the original op (sorry for hijacking thread) my husband recently did part 1.. Not much studying required... Which is good. Studying for exams with two kids, a puppy and a pregnant tired wife is not easy!

Get him to practice on you- watching videos is one thing- doing it is another!!
I seem to remember they like back pain- want to watch you getting them walking, then up on couch.
Nothing intimate- if it seems like its relevant- we were told to say we would do it in "real life" but not actually do it.
There will be a psych one- maybe hidden- older person who is tired a lot- any hint of depression- make sure to ask re suicidal ideas.
There was an ER type case- just think through basics
They want to make sure you're safe so cover all bases.
Quite a bit of stuff you can't revise for- someone asking about abnormal paps, one about a child- with epilepsy I think or febrile seizures?????In other words more counselling than exam. Its the sort of thing he does every day.
I seem to remember they want you to plan investigations- say what you would do- and some advice like say physio for back pain.
I passed- had done no OSCE's since med school ( eons ago!!!! Had a few cave men as patients!!!), as no MRCGP- assuming your hubby has MRCGP he should be fine

Q-bank has mistakes in the Q and answer section for sure but the content is more manageable to do and require less time to do it. I did not use USMLE part2 so can comment on that.

Tirytory! QE2 is like MRCGP. For a UK trained GP the QE2 is way easy. Your husband will be fine. one point though is time management, so he is able to do focus history or examination and finish on time as in real life we are not restricted. The stations can be clinical or pure communication stations like prenatal counselling etc. when is his QE2?
