Default Maps and Transportation

Does anybody know a good website which shows the different cities around ontario.
I am looking at potential placeswhere I could work and would like to know which places are within commutable distance.

One other thing, has anyone come across a public transport website which copuld show me the ideal route from one place to the next? I am planning to land in Brampton and wnat to assess what my options are.

Thanks in advance for any help

Hi there,

I am not sure its exactly what you are looking for but I find www.mapquest.com quite useful when trying to map ideal routes from one place to the next. It's quite simple, yet it gives you a map that shows your exact route and also gives narrative directions.

Cheers.

http://www.gotransit.com/publicroot/default.htm might be useful for train services and so on.

Good old Yahoo.ca has a mapping function - it will also work out road routes and distances for you - I've used it and it's fairly accurate.

Thanks to everyone who has helped.

One question, at the GO train stations, are people able to park there for free and then catch the train into union station?
Are bicycles allowed onto these trains? As I usually commute in the UK by cycle and would like to carry on this trend

I have certainly parked for free at a GO station. I think I did so legally. I don't know about bicycles, I'm afraid.

Do you belong to an automobile association of any sort? I belong to BCAA and they supplied all the maps. mileage, etc for us when we went to the UK earlier this year? Do they do the same thing in the UK for a member?

Sukhy i have now made several trips to Canada and take Microsoft Streets & Trips loaded on my lap top and find it invaluable, every road mapped in Canada you can search by post codes or streets I also have a plug in GPS unit that will track my position correctly to 0.25 meters.
