Hi guys,
I was conducting a job search for positions as a manufacturing engineer/intern at canadian companies. I still have about 6 months to land and am currently in the US. Thought it would be better to use the infrastructure to (possibly) get a headstart on things.
As for background, i have a masters in Industrial engg and currently enrolled in the doctorate program. As for experience, there's a lot of academic experience, but comparitively little industry exposure. I started with monster canada as well as a coupl eof other sites such as career edge, workopolis, engcen and so on.
Would someone out there with any kind of manufacturing background give me some idea as to the scene in canada? I specialize in lean manufacturing, six sigma techniques, safety analysis (FMEA etc).It would really be helpful to hear from someone first hand (although i am trying to build up my network in parallel).
If nothing else, i still have the trucking option open!!
Thanks people.

Toyota has a manufacturing plant in Cambridge Ontario, that has job openings for engineers:

Most of Canada's manufacturing occurs in southern Ontario.

I should also mention that Ford has committed to spent a billion dollars to renovate their Oakville, Ontario plant. They will be hiring over a thousand new workers.
