Mail in rebates are more trouble than they are worth. My dad got a printer 6 months ago and did the required "send this, attach that, follow this instruction" and then a cheque arrived in US dollars which is a pain. He got his money back through a Canadian bank but it was a lot of bother.

If you are happy with the non-rebate price, then it's worth buying the product I guess.

Not sure why it would be a pain to deposit a US$ check in a Canadian bank. I have done it at 3 different banks and there was no charge for it other than the 2% built in the exchange rate. They may put a hold on it which sucks, but you do eventually get the money. I deposit US$ all the time since that is generally how I get paid and they know me so don't put holds on anything now.

All the rebates I have gotten on stuff bought in Canada always came in Can$, only items I bought in the US come back in US$.
