This isn't my experience either. People I worked with would fairly regularly have a pint or two at lunch, and given how busy the pubs were, we weren't the only ones.
I used to go to the pub at lunch time, it was always very busy, we would have a bite to eat and a glass of diet coke ;) Some times I would have what I call 1 point in the coke. Ladies on weight watchers will know what I mean. |
Re: Lunch time boozing in Canada.
remember as an 18yr old apprentice in drawing office being told the boss had phoned in sick, we (led by bunch of older guys) decided to stay for a few hours in the boozer, then when we showed up mid afternoon after several beers, the remaining guys locked us out, so that we had to climb/fall through the bay window at front of drawing office - get back to my board ; and guess who's standing there ...... no rebuke though, just got asked if i'd come in at weekend to finish my work - guys were all on same page back then , am talking early 80s though, most guys had shipyard type background from Glasgow, Newcastle etc
to go from that to what we have now is a bit like the transition in role model of Best to Beckham where did it all go wrong ? incidentally on the rare occasions we do go for a workday lunch, i usually induldge in one or two beers - not because i can't live without it, more like a personal choice, i have'nt sold my soul to stepford yet |

Is it acceptable ?? Not knowing too much about how it affects various people I can't imagine it would be any worse than a social drinker having a beer at lunchtime. I just tend to leave the company of people that are doing it until they are done as it just isn't my thing, but they all seem to be perfectly normal after having a joint. As I saod before it's the same as drinking - too much and you get cabbaged (or eat all of my Doritos :frown:) the odd one I can't really tell the difference. But then i'm not a biologist scientificy type person to know enough to know what the associated risks with the odd puff are  |

No its a sensible question, seeing as this particular pastime seems more socially acceptable in Canada than back in the UK.

Re: Lunch time boozing in Canada.
My Boss kept a bong in his desk and we used to get ripped on Friday afternoons, until one day we accidently set off the sprinkler system and that was the end of it. :(

You can laugh and joke about drugs but you only have to go down to Hastings St. in Vancouver to see the harm they do. :(
