Re: Luggage Allowance

We flew with flyzoom in Jan one way. We did upgrade though, just to get the extra allowance. Travelling with my husband, son & myself. Oh and the cat. Who was in the hold. We had twelve pieces of baggage. All of them were way over 30kg. They never asked for a penny. Thank goodness. It is just your luck at the end of the day. We have friends who went to Kingston last year one way. They were charged for ever kg over....:o

Yeah ours in 20kg for Economy and if we upgrade it would be 30kg. If we get charged for excess it is I think £6 per KG so even if we are 10 kg over it would only be £60 each way for the excess.

Bit hard to decide what to do when am taking the kids and at least 1 of them will be staying there for good

Flying with Canadian Affair as Air Transat it is only £3.50 per kilo so I could take an extra 100 kg and it would only cost £350 which is a lot cheaper than the up grade for 4. If you're flying as My Travel or something else which I cannot remember it is as much as £8 per kilo. But I can't find out if there is an absolute maximum you can take - anyone know?

Re: Luggage Allowance

If luggage allowance is important to some people (it is for me anyway!), Flyglobespan business class is a whopping 40Kg each! (prob split between 2 cases due to H&S restrictions).
I think I'm gonna do that as the seat pitch is 50" plus all the goodies (choice of fine wines, choice of meal blah, blah, blah......)
Costs a bit more, but as there's only 2 of us and it's OUR trip of a lifetime, it's not too much!
Might even stretch to a bottle of bubbly with our meal!
Just my $0.02 worth!

We were going to treat ourselves to an up-grade - as you say it is a trip of a lifetime and only one way but couldn't as it was full and Transat were the best company we could find to take dogs too.

Have a good trip and when you are drinking your bubbly think of the rest of us back in economy!

Hi there I have not travelled by plane in 4 years. If I take 2 or 3 suit case each 20kg is that ok. Whats the amount of luggage you can go with. Also am I still allowed to take a small rack sack with me on the plane with my most important items and things to past the time on flight.

With Canadian Affair the total allowance is now 20kg per person not per bag! Anything over 20kg regardless of how many bags you have will be charged extra per kilo (ranging from £3.50 to £8 depending on which airline you use with them). Bag on plane is fine so long as it does not exceed certain measurements which you will find on the airline's website. You'll have to be careful also about the liquids you take in your hand baggage as you maybe asked to leave them at security!

I guess it all depends on the day, if they have loads of people emmigrating with tons of luggage then they will restrict you, but if not then you might be ok. Its all about luck!!!!!!!!
