For all those of us that are old enough to remember LP's and all those who are young enough to be computer wizz's can anyone answer this one???....
I have a box of LP's which I would dearly live to convert to MP3's or CD's somehow. I've just spent the day playing with my new MP3 toy so I'm hoping its possible via ...what??? anyone got any ideas??? Direct connect from record player to PC maybe?....point is that I currently don't have a record player and if it's not possible then I can just junk them:scared: ...gee, must have kept them too long.

AKAIK you have to do it through the stereo amp though as the signal from the record player is very low voltage and need to be suitable amplified for the PC to pick it up.
If you dont have a record player its probably cheeper to just get the tracks you want from Napster or whatever than to buy the equipment.

Smokey, by LAW you are legally entitled to own a backup copy of any video, cd, dvd or any other type of media that can be damaged, if you use broadband then i suggest you just download a copy of each LP you have, and i suggest you use http://winmx.com ....to do this, great programme and it will save you a lot of time and effort, especially if someone has already done it for you

.George-Ang, didn't know about this site as I've only just started my MP3 learning curve so I'll have a play tonight.
Just a quick question tho....is Napster safe to use now?...was a time I heard that you only had to think the name and you'd get a virus.

I dont use napster, its dodgy, but www.winmx.com is a peer to peer site, so you connect directly to the other users PC, and as long as you do a virus check before opening the file you are safe, also on winmx you can get full albums, so all you need is a mp3 splitter, there easy to find, u will get one off winmx, i love it, its not only for music though, it has everything.
