Thanks Yes can do and Little Flower.

I have been on a reccie, back in September and discovered I liked Halifax and Dartmouth areas and felt at home there, but was not taken with Truro/Colchester and I want to live somewhere near good employment/transport etc, as i do not want to spend on a car, at least not straight away... I have about another year or so to decide what i am going to do and to sww whether CHC say yes to my application?

I love most of the places I have seen in NS and want to live in a place where I feel comfortable and safe and where I can meet some new people and hopefully make friends.

I am looking to change my life and take a chance and want to live somewhere where people accept you, as you are, and are friendly and welcoming and i found this to be the case on my travels around NS.

I think I am a nice and friendly person , i just find the first initial meeting hard, never know what to say.. Once i get to know someone i can talk the hind leg off a donkey , but that is another story....

Thanks for your tips on volunteering and newcomer clubs, never thought about those. Sounds interesting. I will look into them, when i get there. (As you can see i am trying to be positive) .

Emmjay, I can't remember if you are coming to NS on your own or not. I seem to think that you are, in which case you should PM Or4ngecrush (Emma)
because she emigrated to Dartmouth/Cole Harbour towards the end of last year and is having a ball with all her new friends.

Hi Yes-Can-Do

Yes i am doing this on my own, and I have already PM'd
4orangecrush (Emma), as i read her latest thread about how she was doing. She was very nice and helpful.

As i mentioned, i am sticking with SW route, for now, to see how this pans out. I have had some time to think over the past few months and i still cannot stop thinking about NS. So i think i need to do this and give it a chance. I am still worried about giving up everything here and getting a job in NS (current climate not being too good) and the big issue of leaving my family etc etc, but I just need to keep my courage and see if I can do this. I am trying to stay positive and focused, but some days are hard.

I feel like i need a change of lifestyle and to maybe actually get a life

Thanks

Emmjay

Hi
We live in fall river 15 mins from the airport and 25 from halifax. I love it here sadly my hubby and daughter dont! my husband works for a company at the airport and really hates it. Mainly the union side of it which is nother but trouble and you have to be in it its not an option.
Meeting people is pretty easy just go for a walk most people will say hello and before long you will be chatting and have friends I kept meeting the same lady on my dog walk in the mornings before long i was have 15 mums and babies for "play dates".
But please please please do your home work ask all the questions you dont want to hear the answers to. :0)
NS can be expensive food, clothes etc I feel far more than the Uk and I know a lot of brits here and they all same.
We are now looking at are options one being going back to the Uk as we were money wise better off with job prospects etc.
But it is a wonderful place with many great people if you are shy dont worry as the nova scotians have no idea what that means. lol so they will soon help you settle...
If you want any info I will give you the Good the bad and the ugly x
Hi, we are thinking of moving to NS and would love the Good, the bad and the ugly please.
Thanks, also, how old is your daughter? Why is she not happy there?
Thanks, I need all info!

I'm new to all this so please be patient!! My husband and I are also planning to emigrate to Canada and had chosen Nova Scotia as our chosen destination for alot of the reasons your other replies have given, however we were put of recently by reading weather reports for the area including storms and very wet weather. We live in an area at the minute where we have 9 months of rain (June, July and August being 3 of them!!) and were looking for somewhere with different seasons for a change. Can anyone tell me if the weather is as bad as they say.

We have had rain and a couple of bad weather but wouldn't say it was that bad to put us off. We love it and find the winter months aren't as grey as it was in the UK. Take today for instance temp varied from _10 to 0 with sun shining all day and no clouds in the sky.
