Hi and welcome.

First thing that springs to mind when reading your post is what is it about Britain that is 'driving you nuts'? If you are considering the upheaval of emigrating then do make sure you do so for the right reasons - the vast majority of countries have the same problems as the UK and some are far worse. Most people that move to a country have a genuine love for it to compensate for the stress and cost of moving abroad, leaving all their friends and family behind, earning less (and having to start in a lesser position than they are used to), etc.

But if you are serious about Canada and are prepared for the negatives of the country as well as the positives, then have a good look at the Wiki (top of page) which will tell you all out the immigration process and give you an idea of whether or not you would be eligible for a visa.

Also, do a search of the forums - I know that that there are lots of truckers on here that will no doubt be able to answer any questions about that for you, although I have no idea about telephone engineers. I recall a post recently about truckers, and I seem to remember that you need 3 years Class 1 experience, but do check that out.

Hope that has helped, best of luck.

[QUOTE=christmasoompa;6564712]Hi and welcome.

I couldn't agree more, please make sure Canada is the country you want to head to and not say Australia or NZ or anywhere, living in Canada presents its own challenges and you need to really want to be here. Unless you are fortunate enough to get a job offer it takes bl**dy years to get into, and all the time your life if on hold. (thats my two pennies worth)

But welcome and good luck.

Hi and Welcome to BE

There is a trucking forum as mentioned earlier.

If you think the uk is bad, then each country has its problems

You need to take a trip and see if it is for you

Good luck finding what you are looking for. One suggestion, if where you live is driving you nuts is your sole motivation for immigrating, it may not be the right move. After the honeymoon period, often the same stuff crops up wherever you are. Each country has problems, some the same, some different, but none the less problems.

I think if you talk to many successful immigrants, they moved because they fancied trying something different, not to escape.
