Default Looking for some help with my Rover SD1

Hi all,

I'm looking for someone in the GTA who would be interested in helping me work on my 84 Rover SD1.

She is fully working, RHD 1984 SD1 VDP Efi, but needs a few things done to her before the beginning of the summer. I just got laid off last week so I want to try & save some cash by working on her on my own and to learn a few new things with the help of a fellow enthusiast. Payment in beer & drives of the old girl.

http://upload8.postimage.org/793474/photo_hosting.html

Thx K./

Surely would be more cost-efficient to buy a proper car ?

Have you tried making this offer of beer and a ride (You are still talking about the car when you say old girl?) to your mechanic?
You never know he may turn out to be a genuinely nice bloke.

He is not that nice, he makes a pretty penny from the MGB crowd

I had a gold coloured SD1 back in 1987. Loved it to death, which it did on the M25, gearbox went while doing 95 MPH, scary but I survived. I want one, are you willing to sell it??

Meet hot women in Ottawa? Where would they be?

I had two of those, one was black, one yellow. The yellow one had a bigger engine (3.5L rings a bell??). They were great!

If I were you I'd trawl e-bay or similar and get a Haynes Workshop Manual.... I know they published them for these cars, because I used them. This was of course back in the days when you could do your own work on cars!

You're a woman, we don't discuss cars with you. Women and cars go together. But not with dialogue.

Drove one complements of the Constabulary in my UK coppering days...broke out in a cold sweat just thinking about it...like steering a plank of wood! Best thing you could do is leave it on a street somewhere (outside Steve666's house?) and hope someone is crazier than you (meant in the best possible taste) and relieves you of a burden no decent car enthusiast should have to suffer.

Seriously, sounds like a fun project (I think ), best of luck!

Well, its a wonderful car to drive. 3.5 V8, minty condition. The only things that I want to do to it are change the steering rack, as it has a leak, and upgrade the Efi to a Range Rover one.

To all those who hate the SD1, so be it. But love it blind, and cruising along in her is wonderful

Oh please don't take offense, we all like different cars for different reasons - my absolute fave is a MK4 Triumph Spitfire - I dunno why but I love 'em and find them real good fun to drive. Hubby loves and has just added a third to the collection '74-'76 grand Torino's (Starskey and Hutch car), I personally think they are rather unattractive but I am with him in the liking of most Mustangs and the '70 Dodge Challenger.

Rover owners do love their cars and many Rover owners have owned Rover after Rover and loved 'em warts and all. I suppose hubby has spent so many years working on them he is happy not to deal with them anymore. I hope you find a buddy to help you fix up your baby.
