I know this is an immigration heavy website, but Canada needs to come up with ways to re-train and provide these skills to people already in Canada, there are plenty of people who would do these jobs, if they had the ability to gain the skills.

Very true, but training people is expensive. Why go to the bother and expense of training people when you can import foreign workers who earn you money from day one?

I read this yesterday, maybe trade jobs, Engineering in Calgary is certainly not booming.

Or even better...outsource the work to countries that will provide you less running costs, and a bumper profit....Nike, Adidas, Apple et al anyone?

and i'm sure its a breeze to stroll into Canada and ask for one of them top paying O&G jobs that are just littering the streets.

Sometimes.. in fact most times.. its not easy to get nto O&G unless you already are in the trade ( and i know.. here in OZ LNG was/is booming but its still not a walk in the park landing one of those jobs)

LNG isn even at FEED stage yet in Canada. Once BC is convinced investment will pour in.
