Depending on when you are thinking of going over, we hired an RV for our recce (10 weeks). Place to stay, transport all in one. The car parks over there are big enough to park in with ease. Shower, double bed, kitchen what more do you need? If you don't like an area go and look somewhere else. $79 per night and 23c per km. Campsite between $10-$35 per night certain retail car parks "free".

Two months is not really long term as far as rentals go, 6 months is short term for house rentals.

You could check out suite motels, quite inexpensive and often have all the conveniences. Many do a monthly rate, off season is cheapest.

We went with my son (5 years old)
Two double beds in RV (one at back, one over cab)
There is a third if you drop the table which forms a 1.5 bed.
30ft option available as well.

lol, RV absolutely the most sensible option with small children. No lugging suitcases, bags, toys, from one place to another. Pull over and put a brew on or get juice/ snacks as needed, no having to find a cafe/ shop/ restaurant/ toilet etc...

If you wanted to be more settled in a particular area (and I assume you do) then agree that most bigger hotels have family suites with kitchen and diners. I've got three (little) kids and we always book a 2 or 3 bed suite when we are planning a trip. It's nothing like the UK where a 'family room' means they have two beds. end of. Family suites over here tend to be two, three or four bedroomed affairs with a small but 'proper' kitchen (stove/fridge/ microwave/ kettle/ coffee machine) and dining area with table seating at least four or six.

It does rather spoil you for going anywhere in the UK, I fear I have to warn you...

I'd just google exactly where you want to be town-wise, and check online for which hotels have suite options.

Have a fab trip!

if you have a look on sites like craigslist there is often sublets available for that kind of time frame. they tend to be fully furnished and all you need is clothes!
i'm not sure how good it is for nova scotia the okanagan but it could be worth a look!

www.cottagesincanada.com is where we list our cottage rented weekly in the summer and by the month during the winter. Seems as if a lot of other cottage owners do the same (just check they are winterised.

Hi,
you can look on www.craigslist.com or www.kijiji.com for room rentals, short term room rentals, long term room rentals, apartments for rent, houses for rent, houses for sale, and anything else for sale that you are looking for. Sorry about the edits I kept spelling the web page wrong...lol

cheers
