Location, location, location...
....as the tired old cliche goes.
Screw proximity to employment, real estate prices or any of those other tedious practicalities. Where in Canada would we all be living right now if we could? I realize Edmonton will be at the top of most people's list , but are there any other lesser known little Edens out there that we should all be told about. |

I'd like one of those wineries in overlooking Penticton, BC. I wonder how long it would take to drink the entire estate.

Totally impractical for us but ... Tofino, on west coast of Vancouver Island. Can't get it out of my head. Incredible, and the drive across VI - breathtaking.

Re: Location, location, location...
One of the islands between Vancouver Island and the mainland such as Quadra, Cortes or Texada. I'd need a boat or two, one for sailing and one for getting to the mainland/Vancouver Island quickly. I could cope with that.

Re: Location, location, location...
Id be right where I am, only in a nicer house, with waterfront and more garage space. I guess we have settled here and have roots now.
Of course, I may have a couple of holiday homes in an ideal world too... |
Re: Location, location, location...
Pretty much where I'm living now....only out of town a little with a few acres around me, and keep a view of those 'purty mountains'.
Summer home? Somewhere on the water - Tofino looks stunning, that'll do me! |

I have to agree with that drive. Spent a wonderful weekend in Tofino sitting on this deck right at the end of the main street.

Re: Location, location, location...
Exactly where I am right now (a tiny rural hamlet in the BC Rockies - nr. Mt.Robson - my avatar pic is Kinney Lake - 5 mins from here) but out here, your "Screw proximity to employment" statement certainly applies!

Re: Location, location, location...
Vancouver, just with a better view.
|
Re: Location, location, location...
right where I am. I love our 'hood.

Re: Location, location, location...
I could spend lots of time around this place.

Re: Location, location, location...
Nestled amongst trees on the waterfront, miles from anywhere would do me.
Other than that, I do quite like the Waterton area, not sure if I could cope with all the storms and winds around there though. Also really like the idea of Northern Alberta/Yukon (for the summer anyhoo.). |
Re: Location, location, location...
It's a toss up between Tofino for reasons already stated by others or Jasper, beautiful town not far from Mount Robson and Kinney Lake and the Fraser river, (for rafting!).
My OH has instructions to scatter my ashes at Kinney Lake if I go before him! Can't think of a better resting place. And as it's so out of the way everyone has a good excuse not to visit:lol: |

Mind you BC has that many places it is hard to choose. I havent visited any other provinces so cant quote on them. Although ive read enough great things about them in this forum. Our plan is to visit as many places as we can when (if) we get PR Gaz |
Re: Location, location, location...
Deep Cove in BC... in one of those fancy hooses on the hill.

Re: Location, location, location...
Well if money was no object then I'd opt for something on one of the lakes up at Whistler, or one of the $10m+ homes with private dock in West Van...
If only.... |

West van is crazy. Drove past something that resembled a falling down shed the other day. It was for-sale so I checked on MLS - $3.2M, for a small fixer upper!!!

Re: Location, location, location...
Right here where we live, a walk to Willows Beach, Oak Bay, Victoria BC. Beautiful beach with great scenery and even a fish and chip shop (although they close about 6pm!)
Even if my OH gets posted to Ottawa or Halifax with the Navy I think we will stay here, enough moving for me, this is home! |

In Muskoka, where time stood still 30 years ago. Surrounded by bears/deer/racoon/beavers and the lakes (2 hours north of Toronto). - where community spirit abounds :p
