No idea how long processing time is in seattle. However you can just get the WP issued at point of entry by immigration - i.e when you arrive in Canada, so no need to apply in seattle.

Hi Rob,
The link that you sent does not have any checklist of what documents I need to carry when I enter Canada.
1. Can I prepare the documents based on the checklist that I have for the Work Permit?
Why would a government have 2 procedures in place to enter the country, Why can't they just ask everyone to enter the country with the positive LMO and get the WP at the border?
2. What is the difference in getting that extra step done in CIC office at Seattle v.s. entering Canada without doing that and getting the WP?
3. Will this extra document that I get in Seattle help me in anyway at a later stage? is it advisable to do it.
Please let me know on this

As far as I know yes - plenty others on here have gone through the process, suggest you search the forum.

No idea

Advantage - you get everthing done in advance ad don;t have to sress at having the wrong form, wrong information and getting turned away
Disadvantage - have to wait for WP to be processed, not sue about current wait times but would guess at arounf 6-8 weeks
3. Will this extra document that I get in Seattle help me in anyway at a later stage? is it advisable to do it.
No differnece
By the way, where are you living right now - in the UK or in Seattle?
Please let me know on this

I am in Seattle now and the plan is to Drive with my family and enter Canada. My US visa expires soon and I don't want to be turned away for any wrong information that I have. But again I dont have 6-8 weeks of time to wait for the approval.

As long as you have everything they ask for (LMO, Job offer letter and contract, proof of your qualifications/resume etc) then you'll be fine. I assume you all have British passports.

Thanks Rob, your help is much appreciated. No I was born in India and married to an Indian, my child was also born in India. In our family the last three generations have been in India. We all have passports from India.

Sorry - was assuming you had British passport. I'm not sure if having an Indian passport makes a difference or not, you might not be eligible to apply at the border then, you're probably best phoning the Canadian embassy in seattle.
