LMO timeline in Toronto. How long?
#1
Found a job today and sent in an application. Broke every rule there is on how to write a cover letter. My resume is also 3 pages long. Used humor and honesty. Laid the cards straight on the table that I'm not even in Canada. Low and behold - half an hour later they respond. Said I was completely over qualified for the job but as there is room for advancement once your in and if I was willing to start at the bottom, we could talk. H*LL YES, I'm prepared to start at the bottom. At the end of the day, the company is in my field of work. So I told them that (not in those words though).
So, basically, what is the LMO timeline in Toronto right now? (Or should I just bypass that and go GATS. I am self employed here.)

can't be too long - a member of my family has just moved over with his wife in the last week - and was only offered the job a few weeks ago.

Hi, im new here!!
My LMO went in on Monday, its the second time as the first time there was a slight glitch, my job had never been advertised, had to wait 14 days while it was advertised which has now expired so the LMO is back in again!!
I really do hope it takes about 2 weeks!!! I want to get to Canada by November as we have a house lined up etc ( we have good friends in Canada!! )
The only thing im not sure about is how do i apply for a work permit?? I have a job and will hopefully have a positive LMO so where do i apply to??
Cheers!

Thanks all for the good wishes. I have emailed the company back and haven't heard since. I guess they are going through the applicants that are local. I've offered to call/skype with them. If I can get them to keep advertising every now and then until I'm over, that would cover the minimum 2 weeks, eh?
Regardless of which, I am planning to come over in November. Just went to the police today to renew my passport (runs out mid december), place to stay is sorted. Will be more prepared and know what I need to do.
Vaughan76 - my understanding is that once your employer has received the positive LMO he/she needs to send it to you. You either send it and passport and application for workpermit in to the embassy or you pack your bags, take the LMO, your passport and fly out, tell the customs officer that you are there to work and they will direct you to another line/room. Hand over paperwork (don't forget the contract and job offer), hand over $150 CND, get your passport stamped and receive a "welcome to Canada" greeting.
Oh GOD I wish that was me right now.
I can almost taste the double-double, the 12 grain toasted bagel with cream cheese, the raised maple doughnut. *sob*

Well technically Canada doesn't have an embassy in the UK, it's a High Commission. Commonwealth countries don't have Embassies with each other.
