Hi there folks
I seem to be having a problem with my LMO for no apparent reason.
I was offered a job that was meant to start at the end of August. Agreed terms etc etc. so.... quit my job packed up the house only to be told the week before that there was a problem with the LMO and that a mistake was made so had to be applied for again.
I was then told that at the end of September it was negative again, but not to worry it would be sorted soon. the company also told me that there were no reasons given for the negative response and to remain positive.
Now, as I am sure you can imagine I am completely ticked off at this stage and I have a few questions that I would be much obliged if any of you could answer for me.
1. I have a vocational qualification, no criminal record, the job I'm going for is on the list of those urgently required to be filled. Is there another reason why it has been negative to this point?
2. The company I will work for (eventually, hopefully) are a very large construction firm with some massive projects on the go. I will be based in Calgary. Can someone have made a mistake in an application that has been detrimental to me?
3. What is the normal timescale for an LMO? It's been about 10 weeks or so, is this excessive.
4. Am I being lead up the garden path by the company with the explanation that they don't get told why an application is negative? and, is there a way I can investigate myself as to where and when the LMO was applied for.
Any help would be massively appreciated.
Tom

Hi Tom and welcome to the forums.
I know that two reasons that LMO's have been refused in the past for people on this forum are that (i) the salary and job conditions have not been acceptable (they need to be offering you the same as they would a Canadian in terms of pay, benefits, etc); or (ii) that the job has not been advertised widely enough (it needs to have been advertised across Canada for 3 months, and proof needs to be given of this, together with proof that no Canadian resident willing, or able, to do the job applied).
Either of those likely to be it? Not sure if it will help at all, but this may be worth a read http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/en/workplaces...sessment.shtml
Good luck getting it sorted finally.

Thanks for the pm responses
I still would like opinions on the 10 week timescale and if I can do anything myself to find out the position with it.
Cheers again in advance
