Hi
I got notification that my LMO got approved today **little dance**.

The delay in my approval was because Service Canada "forgot to send out the paperwork".

. So if anyone who has been waiting for longer than 12 weeks it may be worth chasing them up.
My second IEC visa expires 24th July, so I do not want to risk sending the form online or in the post as I may not get it back in time.
So, can I now take my passport, job offer letter, LMO confirmation, completed application form and $150 dollars to Buffalo and get the permit there? So far as it is before the 24th July 2013?

Sooooo I just got back from the border and my work permit was not issued because of the following reasons:
1) I was told by Service Canada that I would need the first two pages of the LMO, because the border agents would only need to see the number and that it was a positive LMO. As it turns out the agents need to see whole thing..
2) My degree certificate(s)......??!?!?! I am concerned about my degree cert because I do not have the originals with me in Canada. The best I can get is a copy and acceptance will then depend on whether the border agent "feels it is genuine".
So I have to go back with these items and try again......

Point 2 its at the discretion of the officer to accept non original documents.
Taken from the Foreign Workers Manual page 88 of this link
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resourc...w/fw01-eng.pdf
background documents showing the qualifications and experience of the applicant for the employment, if such evidence is required to satisfy the requirements of R200(3)(a);
any other documention required to satisfy the officer that the requirements of the Act or Regulations are met.
Why dont people just print off the whole of the LMO and bring it to the POE?
All to often I have people showing up with the LMO on their smart phone, tablet or laptop and for whatever reason have difficulties bringing it up.
PRINT IT OFF before arriving at the POE.

I printed off the two pages that I was given and took that along. I mean was concerned because the two pages do not state anything specific to me, but hey I did what I was told.
As for the degree certs, the application kit it does not mention bringing my degree certs. I must have been though that form 100 times along with the checklist and it actually only states to show how you are qualified via your resume not degree certs.
But I have not seen that manual before.
In hindsight it makes sense and I can get what I need fairly easily I just wish I had seen this sooner.

I had a read through that manual and it is very comprehensive. Good thing to have
So I got what I needed and I will try again tomorrow. But I was only able to get a copy of my degree certificate including my transcript. So I will head down to the border with:
TWP application pack (IMM1295E _Application For Work Permit Os Canada, IMM5257B_Application for Temporary Resident Visa, IMM5645E__Family Information Form)
Job Confirmation (name, start date, expiry date, pay, brief description of duties)
$150 cash/ but have debit and credit cards
Passport
Resume
Full LMO Document
Degree Certificate and Transcript

:f ingerscrossed: this will be enough this time.

It was a different officer, however I had seem them before. They were outside in the booth when I went on Saturday morning. I had the full LMO and my degree certs (copy). They did say that I did not need the application forms that were on the CIC website as they were for applying for a TWP from within Canada.

IE x number of years in your field is worth more than a newly graduated person with no experience to your employer and thats why they hired you and applied for an LMO
