Received and sent off about a week ago, shouldn't be to long now. Got buyers for the house (touch wood) every seems to be going through okay, got to book a removal firm yet, best quote so far is £4,500 with pss. Kids are getting a bit nervous, truth be told so am I. keep waiting at the moment to book the flights as i'd feel happier if we had got to exchange of contracts, i expect it will all come right in the end

We've just sent our LMO off aswell; I've heard they are taking 30 days to process...yikes. At least you have buyers for your house, we've not even had any viewings yet :scared: When are you planning to fly out?

Don't mean to sound naive but what's an LMO? Is it the passport request?
We are at the point where we have had our medicals and are awaiting our passport requests (finger's crossed), so this knowledge may be relevant to us.

An LMO is short for Labour Market Opinion. To obtain a work permit, the employer has to get approval from the HRSDC office. They have to prove that there is a skill shortage and they haven't been able to find a Canadian to do the job offered. This is called an LMO. If HRSDC approve the LMO, you can apply for a work permit.

Congrats, I hear that work permits are taking about 4 weeks through London due to Hols and volume.
To aid my continued suffering (been waiting for LMO for 6 weeks now) could you please tell me what the processing time was for the LMO and through which office?

ittook about 5/6 weeks to come through, it was manitoba. good luck with yours, it must be due any day now!

No viewings yet, it's only been on market for 3 weeks, but still dis-heartening. My husband's employer hasn't said anything about start dates yet thankfully. We're hoping he will hang on for him, but I doubt he will keep the job open forever! If we don't get the house sold soon, he will have to go out alone and we follow after. Not ideal, but he doesn't want to lose the job.

Stuarty - my hubby's LMO took 9 weeks to be approved in Vancouver. I'm sure you'll hear something soon
