Hi everyone,
I've had and interview for a job in Swift Current,
I was originally looking at Alberta and I've heard mixed opinions of Saskatchewan.
I live in rural England with my wife and daughter and remoteness doesn't bother us. It's just quality of life we're after.
Any incites would be appreciated.

We are going to Regina and we've done plenty of research on Saskatchewan, what do you need to know ?
There are a few others on this forum who live in Sas and they can give some very good info about the province as well.
To us the quality of life depends on what you want out of life, are your happy sitting at home with the family or do you want to fish , shoot ,ski, treck , bike etc ? all that comes down to what you can afford I suppose.
There are bundles of activities to keep a family occupied in Sas, but the south of the province is relatively flat, if its the stereotypical mountains you are after you might want to think again, obviously it depends on where you are going to end up working.

Thanks for that mate,
I don't think the flatness will be a problem and there a some hills and lakes near by. I've been taking to people on Facebook and they've set mind at ease.
Cheers again

Swift Current is a small town that's quite some distance away from Regina even while driving. As for culture, I have no idea.

I grew up in Saskatchewan and my aunt still lives in Swift Current so I went there as a child often. Cypress Hills Provincial Park is nearby which has decent camping. If you are ok with a small city, it is fine. The people will be friendly, the winters long but not too grey. Being born and bred in Saskatchewan, I have a positive image of SC. You hear negative things about Prince Albert, Regina, etc, but Swift Current is fine. Google it to find pics and info. Oh, I should add I think SC is one of the prettier towns in Sask, some hills and valleys and interesting terrain compared to other places.

That's a nice video and as Adriane says SC is close to Cypress Hills (and has other advantages) but be forewarned that it doesn't look quite that nice from the highway (few places do). My time in town has been mostly visiting a friend at his video store while waiting for connecting busses and downtown was very quiet each time. He blames the malls. I might be passing through there in a day or 2 and if I do I'll take a pic & post it. :-)

I was born in Eastend, SK, which is tiny place a couple of hours from Swift Current. My parents loved it there and really got involved in the community and were very happy. I think it's really a very beautiful part of Canada, but you do need to be ok with the flat terrain and long winters. It's a long way to any significantly different sort of scenery!
Obviously there's a big difference between remoteness in rural England and remoteness in the prairies of Canada. But I'm sure you've thought of that!
