Little Britain......

Has anyone watched the series? I have downloaded series one and have watched 2 episodes but am not too sure of what i think of it. I wasn`t rolling around in laughter.....

Re: Little Britain......

First series better than current. Some sketches are funny some not. But beware, the more you watch, the more you will find yourself laughing at all welsh people, and imagining them in PVC. You will not be able to hear someone mention their "village" without saying "Are you the only gay in it "
If you have teenagers in the family start an arguement and wait and see how long before they start saying "yeah but, no, but yeah, mum!!!
If and when you next use the public toilets, see how long it takes before you smile when reading the sign "ladies"
God forbid you ever see anyone breast feeding a young lad in public!! ( think that is in new series- that does turn my stomach)
I am laughing already as I have the DVD by the telly and keep thinking of some of the sketches.........

It's not that it makes you roll with laughter, some of it makes you cringe so much. Like bitty. My 3 and half year old now tells my 6 months old bitty later when he starts crying (daddy couldn't stop himself teaching her!!!) and Bubbles ******, oh my god. So real and horrible. Yes I know!!

Ooohhh the 'Bitty' sketch in Little Britain makes me cringe :scared:

I love watching Anne, the mental patient, who is not as mental as she makes out and has 'normal' conversations on her mobile phone then goes back to saying "Ee, eh, ehhhhhh" while stroking peoples faces, or wiping sandwiches down window panes  I think this series is as strange as the League of Gentleman. What would the Canucks make of this humour??

My husband is Canadian and manages to sit there with a straight face while I am almost peeing myself laughing. It is a very very funny and original series but then I just love Matt Lucas anyway so I would say that! And as I am from Bristol originally (though not with the same accent) I do get called Vicky from time to time by him!!!

Hi Yorkiebar99. :)
I noticed you emmigrated from York. We are moving to Edmonton Alberta in the summer from York, well as soon as our house sells. Just wondered is there anything you are especially missing about your home town? Pubs? ,Pidgeons etc.

I am just trying to prepare myself and my family for the inevitable culture shock of the big move.
Any advise from a fellow Yorkie greatly appreciated . Ali and Mark

Oh and we both Love Little Britain .

I saw that show for the first time this Christmas when I went back to visit. I didn't think it was as good as league of gentleman but certainly has that alternative spin that just doesn't work outside the UK, clearly proven by the fact my (Canadian) wife had absolutely no idea what was going on and made me turn it off. The only thing she recognized was the Prime Minister because the actor played Giles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I'm a Canuck living in England and I think some of it's very funny. Some of it I just don't have the cultural background to fully understand the references and appreciate. I think Lou and Andy are very, very funny though, especially the epsiode in which Andy decided he wanted to burn his stuff. :D Priceless.

I wonder what British people think of The Trailer Park Boys? I think it's wonderful but I wonder how much Brits can appreciate it much like Craftybanshee wondering how Canadians can appreciate Little Britain. I know what a lot of Americans think about it but I've not heard any mention about it from British people. Anyone watch it?

We watch it. Its funny but I dont find it absolutely hilarious. It actually filmed very close to where we live (and we live by one of the actors...one which always carries a rye and coke!) and has got some resemblences to some people we know!!!lol

From another Yorkie, although not having lived there for 18 years, and one who was in Edmonton last week...DO NOT ever use the downtown Econolodge hotel, it's foul and filthy , DO go to Second Cup, on Jasper Ave as it has excellent muffins. When you get a car there are some pretty good stores out in the Strathcona area, although beware the roads can be treacherous, even my Canadian friends have trouble with the roads there.

Re: Little Britain......

All i can say is just always remember why you wanted to leave....
To be honest, some days i do really miss it but nothing so bad that a holiday wouldn`t cure. Some Sundays we wish we could get in the car for a drive to charming Scarborough!!
York is very nice on the eye....Canadian cities are pretty ugly....but the outdoors is beautiful.
because it is so big the great thing is that if on a beautiful sunny day you want to take a day trip somewhere you don`t have to worry about traffic jams in the country!! i always hated that on a day trip to the moors, dales whitby or wherever, if the sun was shining there would be people everywhere!!!
my husband misses steak pies and some good chocolate
you should love it.

whereabouts in York are you living?

the fact is, if we were having a hard time in uk
