Default life insurance?

Hello..........
Can anybody in Canada, or anybody who knows the answer to this, give me a comparison of life insurance costs in Canada compared to the uk.
I've finally found a uk company that say they will allow me to take out term insurance now while I'm in the uk, and that it will be valid when we emigrate. Subject to things like if the country is at war on its home soil :scared: .....hope not.
I'm speaking to the underwriters on Monday to see if its acceptable.....There are a lot of clauses in some policy's that you have to watch out for, and most company's won't accept it..
So I'm trying to weigh up if its worth taking it out now if its too expensive in Canada.........also still got to work out the costs of transferring money back to the uk to keep the plan going.

Thanks

I have some Life Cover with Legal & General in the UK and they said I could keep it going, so I have kept our bank account running with some money in it. It only has 2 more years to run. We have now got to look into life cover over here.

Tiggy, try The co-operators, here in AB.
We were pleasantly surprised by the premiums. A mid 30's couple, both non smoking and in excellent health. Got 500k coverage for 25 yr term on both of us for approx $90 per month.

No. They operate across most of the country but there are lots of competing firms. I pay $130 for $500,000 as a late forties smoker and $175 to pay $4,000 a month in disability, all with Great West Life.

Hello Tiggy,
I've got a policy with L+G with a couple of years to go and they said it would be ok to keep it going if I emigrated. The thing is I haven't even got PPR so I tried to start another policy with them for 5 years and told them what I intended to do, just to give me more time to play with incase we struggled to get cover in Canada. But they said it would not be valid abroad unless it ran for 2 years while I was still resident in the UK I personally can't understand the problem..... Suppose every company's got their rules to stick to
