Letter of ref from uk bank
#1
Hi All
Hope some one here can help as the lady at naff west could not
.
We opened an account in NS last week and was asked if I could get a letter of reference from my uk bank.
After an hour of trying to explaining my position, I wont go into how many times she disappeared with the forms we had just filled in just to reappear with a different set to fill in.
I came away with a blank form for me to fill in that requests a status enquiry?
Is this the same as a letter of reference or was I slipped another fatty just to get rid of me because she was incompetent.
Help as we only have 4 weeks before we leave and I dont think its enough

I think all they want is a brief note from your bank to say that you have been customers of good standing for however long. That's all our bank over here wanted any way. We were (still are) with First Direct and they charged us £10 for it.

1. A letter that says you operated your account correctly and that regular payments were made on it.
2. A letter stating that you paid your mortgage correctly, not missing payments etc.
You don't need the letters to open an account (RBC), but will be helpful when you request a mortgage or credit card.

Thanks.
Thats is what I asked the kind lady at naff west for, and some reason only known to herself she wrote a letter to the manager asking for a letter of introduction so I can open an account in Canada even though I started the conversation with her saying "I have opened an account in NS"

Thinks can only get better as I am going to a different branch

If you can get one it may help with your credit card application... or ask your UK credit card company if they can give you a letter of reference.
My banks were in Belgium and they charged from 10-30 EUR for the letters.
