Hi there- any information on living around Lethbridge AB... We like cross border shopping and good access to healthcare. Any decent area's /bad ones to live would be appreciated. Ideally wanted to be near a view/lake/water... but would welcome any suggestions thanks in advance.

I would imagine that the cross border shopping you are used to will not be anything like the same from Lethbridge, primarily because of the distance from the border to a decent sized town/city in Montana. Google maps will be your friend to determine why. For example, I cannot imagine that anyone in Lethbridge purchases groceries in the US, rather than in Alberta, on a regular basis.

Why Lethbridge?

It's beaten Red Deer on the third largest City in Alberta, just. It's away away from decent shops as AC says, it's not a quick hop for shops. It's windy. It has a decent car scene. Someone that actually lives there is likely to pop in at some point to give you better answers.

Any place named for a Doctor Who character must have something going for it.

Lethbridge is counted as being a prairie town ................. views on the prairies in general tend to be of a large vastness of flat land, with glorious sunrises and sunsets.
Don't know if that is the case in Lethbridge, though the Oldman River is in a deep valley running through the town and is now part of a huge municipal park.

Thanks all for the replies- well its just that hubby had an idea about maybe moving to AB when we retire. I was trying to locate something that was closer to the US border as we do cross border shop, not all the time but within 2 hours commute is fine. We live in the country now and enjoy it, I myself would like to find an over 55 area but without the "old fogey" labels so we could make friends and socialise. Just exploring some options, don't like the idea of living in city, so anyone else with other places we may not have considered, feel free to share thanks.

I think Medicine Hat is popular for retirees, so just down the road a bit, and even sunnier with less wind.
I havent been there, but just one more to add to you list of research.
