Good all rounder for lower mainland BC. Close to Vancouver but lower cost of housing. A decent single family home will set you back around $500,000. Job prospects depends on what work your looking for! good weather mild winter warm summers! Close to US border. School good standards for BC.

Lower mainland is lots of micro climates, so one area, such as Pitt Meadows has more rain than Langley and White Rock (which gets more sun).
Check out Environment Canada website for more details on historical conditions and norms for weather. Whistler is 40 minutes (sometimes) from Vancouver as well, so 40 minutes can make all the difference.

They do that on the lower mainland. People used to wince when we said we lived on the north shore. "oooh it rains all the time, eh?". Its not exactly Barbados downtown while we're experiencing a downpour, no.

We went skiing a lot last year and it took us 45 mins to get to Mount Seymour, by the same token going more inland it takes us about 45 mins to some fantastic beaches and water parks too.
We bought a new build and there are lots of developments going on, last year we got lots of snow - the kids loved it, I cant compare to previous winters as it was our first one - maybe we've been spoilt. This past week we have seen temperatures up to 35'C so it does get hot.
I am happy with the schooling system and the kids are so happy here.
We go to Vancouver, Stanley Park, Granville Island etc a fair bit and it usually takes us an hour (depending on the traffic)...you have to be willing to travel to live in Canada.!
Good Luck with it all, hope this helps.
