Default Labour Day in T.O.?

We're thinking about flying to T.O on Sept 1st - being a public holiday, is this likely to cause us an issue in terms of immigration being understaffed and also in getting transport (cab/limo) to downtown?

To what extent will things be closed downtown i.e. restaurants, shops etc?

All that will be closed is:

- banks

- government offices

- liquor and beer stores

dunno about immigration, obviously there will be people there but they may not be happy people.

Best dig out my union flag pants then, just to make their day

Dare I ask if bars will still be open? Could well need a drink after a 7hr flight with a 2 year old!!

Yes, bars are open. Should still be weather enough to sit on a patio.

Do the cabs/limo's hike their prices on bank holidays or are they still fixed? Is there likely to be a shorter supply too?

Still fixed. Still the same slightly inadequate supply as always.

Ha! I was at the airport yesterday, it's all dug up as usual and in chaos. Better to be in a cab with some gall bladder removalist than driving yourself.

My daughter flew into TO last year on Labour Day......no different from any other day as far as Passport Control etc is concerned. Roads in and out were slightly less chaotic than usual.

Thank heavens I'll never have to do that again, now I'm back here
