In Continental Europe, British girls are known for their ability to go out in sub-zero temperatures wearing skimpy clothes and a ring of fat.

Funny thing how the same happens everywhere :)

After reading the posting from Rich_007 I can put my book down on Kelowna, ain't nothing like telling it as it is!

We are moving to Kelowna next year OH has a job and I will enjoy the lifestyle with our 3 year old!

I understand it's not all a bed of roses but hey what is? If you can deal with England and it's problems then nothing can be worse.

Kelowna - Great Place, Great People!

Hi Tracie

We've been here in Kelowna six months, and we still have all our faculties (just)!
If you want any info let me know. I'll 'tell it as it is', nowhere's perfect, but it's working out for us.;)

Well I gotta say what a surprise at the feedback messages, karma, and comments about my earlier post ! Thanks to everyone who propped me. I tell it as it is and I have the broad shoulders not to care about those who have a problem with that.

Just a final note to say that if you are in need of local media or need information or resources, this is by far the most informed and rounded local source:

Local media:
http://castanet.net/

Local online resources:
http://forums.castanet.net/

Your questions will be answered by a multitude of various local opinions from the wider community, and you'll avoid the hideous festering nest of wacked out British misfits whining about Bisto, beer, the cold weather, or Heinz baked beans.

Good luck to all who consider Kelowna as a relocation destination; be informed, be warned, be sure to visit, tramp the streets, and get a feel for life here.

 keep it real bro's

Couldn't agree more, Rich007, Castanet is a great resource, good for buying and selling odds and ends too.
When I was going through the emigration process, http://www.accessokanagan.com was helpful too. People there who'd been through the process and who went out of their way to give me the benefit of their experience.

Agree totally too about the benefit of reccies. We came over a few times, rented a place so we shopped etc along with the locals, and got a feel for the place. Always tempting to turn a reccie into a vacation, but best to try and get under the skin of the place before you move.

Funny, I've only come across a couple of Brits who moaned about what they couldn't get/what was different here. Most, like me were, overall enjoying the experience, going through a few highs and lows. Quite normal really.

Speak as you find as they say.

Just as well you're here then, Rich, to redress the balance.

Funny, no one's ever called me that before. You're obviously a superior judge of character.:p

'Kay, your constant replies are akin to stalking so you're on now my ignore list.

I can't be doing with this weird stalking syndrome you people have in your heads. I have nothing to prove to you or your cackling gaggle of odd bods and misfits. I said there would be stalking happening after my post, and totally true to form, it has happened.

Be gone with you.

Re: Kelowna

Thanks MKMurray,

I will most definately contact you once Christmas is out of the way, can I be really cheeky and ask whereabouts in Kelowna you settle? We are looking at the Mission but will rent for the first year just to get a feel of the place. We also looked at Glenmore & Dilworth all were really lovely areas. But our son is going to a school in the Mission area so we felt it would be easier to live near here. My OH will be working on Enterprise Way.

To everyone else I really enjoyed reading all the messages as I am so stressed out at the moment!

Merry Christmas to you all!!!

Few things Rich.
1. I am not stalking you. I don't know where you get that idea from. I'be been on this site for almost 12 months.
2. I actually agree with you on many things, but that doesn't seem to suit.
3. Your thoughts were particularly appreciated on pine beetles on another site, and I thank you for it.
4. I don't cackle and I'm neither an oddball or a misfit.

I apologise if sharing my views offends. Perhaps you ought to read my posts rather than assume I am someone I'm not.
No offence taken on my part. You obviously have 'issues' with other Brits, well, I'm not one of them.

Hi Tracie
No sweat, if we can help, happy to do so. I'll PM you my email address.
We are up in the Mission, partly because of the schools, but we rented up on Dilworth for a few weeks, and, yep, it's lovely. There are lots of great places in the area (not cheap tho'!) and different ones appeal to different folks. Did all the stressy stuff myself, around six months ago, so it's all soooo fresh in my mind. How old's your son?
Sharon;)

Rich,
I am beginning to think that you were not tipped off about this thread after all, instead, you used this as an opportunity to vent your anger towards these minority Brits that you keep talking about.

Are you jealous of them? Is that what the problem is? How dare these people come to *my* town, buy a bigger house than me, drive a nice German car and not put anything back into the community. These people came from a 3 bed semi in Middlesex and are now living the high life in Kelowna. Is that where all this anger comes from?

No anger from me. I'm chill.
