Kamloops - How do I get there?
#16
Hi,
Sorry not been in here recently due to selling the house in UK and arranging all the removals, telling estate agents what to do and passing the time of day by trying to get my solicitor to use words such as definitly, certain,I assure you etc (They are better than a thesuarus for finding alternatives to these words).
Any way I live and work in Kamlops and have now been here for 6 months. I am certain that after all my research I did find the place that was perfect for me and it still continues to exceed my expectations.
Fly from Vancouver (in winter during Ski Season you can also get from Seattle). It is an hours flight. Popolation - answerd buy others. Definitly not a crowded place and I have never struggled to park in the City Center on a Saturday for Free in a car park (To me a better judge of crowding than population number). Recently I have experienced traffic jams on the way to work with the snow. It was so bad one day that I was in a queue of three cars at the traffic lights.
In country feeling - how far do you want to go? On the drive to work the other day I saw a couple of Coyotes. Live 15 minutes out of the city and you are in bear, coyote, couger and rattle snake country.
Lakes - still not managed to visit them all but must have been to 10 or more - loads more to visit yet. Rivers - well we have a good cross section run through the city center and sitting by the river in the riverside park on a hot summers day watching everyone on the beach makes a pleasent lunch break. Loads more rivers every-where and we now have our gold pan but not yet got around to using it - there gold in them there hills.
Schools - yes we have them here and some have BC awards. like any city some better than others and some outstanding.
Work - we have one of the lowest un-employment figures in Canada. There is lots of work going and people that dont like thier job hop from job to job. It does of course depend on what you want to do. I do hear people from outside Kamloops saying finding a job is difficult here but I can only assume it is the work they want that isnt here. PM me if you like regarding what sort of work you want and I will see what I can find out.

Were looking for a family orientated place but with the "in the country" feel. Does anyone have any advice on the place, schooling/work opportunities/best areas etc. Also, whats the lake/river situation there. Is there plenty as my wife reallly wants to live on the coats and i'm trying to convince her otherwise!
Anything info be appreciated.
