We haven't decided that we are leaving yet which is why we joined this forum (which is full of loades of information, some useful and some not so useful!!!!), so any advice would be gratefully appreciated. Which part of Canada are you living in. What we're you're reasons for leaving in the first place?

Ha-ha, apart from the Watford gap, do you think all of this will change when you get to Canada - eh (pardon my grammer)? Go to places such as Oakville and Burlington and you will find the Daily Mail readily available. And, as for anti-social behaviour, look at this:

Doogledoz
Why did we leave conwall - just wanted a change and decided to come for 3 years - well 27 years later still here in Alberta.
We both gave up good jobs to come here. Lots of changes since we came though - more people and traffic and we have been through the ups and downs of the boom and bust. Lost a bunch of money on our first house - in 1982 - but things have been on the up and up since then.
There is no comparison to Cornwall - and so after a while we stopped trying to find things we were familiar with. You have to keep an open mind - the snow was a novelty for the first 5 years but now........ however the winters are always sunny - none of that Cornish drizzle!
If you have a trade Alberta is the place to be - but be aware trying to emigrate from UK can take up to 42 months. My nephew has been in the "system" at Canada House for 26 months and still waiting. However if you read the Daily Mail a few weeks ago you might be aware that one of the Alberta Ministers was in the UK - trying to lure doctors. nurses, teachers, trades people etc as the province is in dire need of people. They would be prepared to fast track visas etc.
Yes we miss things - especially the ocean and those "Cornish Pasties" - however we venture back every year to visit family and stock up on all those "goodies"
Would be please to answer any other questions/concerns you have.
