Also try Brewers Yeast you have to take it for a few weeks first though for it to kick in.
Bounce dryer sheets were also recommended by a Canadian friend of mine and she swears by them. You rub them over your skin and they keep away. I put them under the cushions of my patio furniture. They have to be bounce though the other brands don't work.

Not sure if I've dreamt this but seem to think Bounce works, you know the things you put in dryer, sure I read someone tied one to belt loop on jeans

I had rellies bring over some "Antisan" (sp?) which is good!

There is stuff here called "After-bite", which is a clear liquid in a 'pen-like' appilcator, but is messy and stinks to high heave (of Ammonia, I think). That seems to work reasonably well. :)

Edit to add: I have a problem with the Deet based repellants, because of the risk to human health. Very dangerous stuff. I certainly wouldn't put it on young kids; but now with the threat of West Nile...it's a case of rock and hard place....

If you're having a BBQ then put a pint of sugar water near the table and they will go to that instead of you. Afterbite is a complete rip off in my opinion, try putting a bit of wet soap on the bite or some vinegar. And whatever you do, don't scratch! It will only make it worse.

Hi Jay

How come you have got 9 Karma boxes after only 4 posts, it took me nearly 500 posts to get mine? They are a bit like A levels, too easy to get nowadays.

Back to the OP, try using Avon body lotion, I understand that works. I cannot remember what it is called, something like "Oh so softly" or similar

Skin So Soft...and Chilliwack mozzies compete with small aircraft. They have their own landing strips..they are evil and huge. :scared:

Thanks for correcting me. I was close though, I knew soft was in it somewhere.

So true! Normally I don't react to bites anywhere else in the world, but I'm being eaten alive here! The mozzies are truly evil! I've had so many bites and I'm swelling in all the wrong places!! Thought I might have had a DVT last week when my calf swelled up and turned bright red and hot.

Benadryl capsules work - it says on the packet to take 1-2, but that doesn't work for me, I have to take 3. Only problem is they leave you really zonked out! The Benadryl cream isn't as good and the After Bite ammonia stick is rubbish.

Hehe... I agree!! For some reason though they are much worse this year... I started using Off Deep Woods, but it says not to apply under clothes, so although my exposed skin hasn't suffered so much, they have gone for the clothing and bitten me to pieces under there instead. Grrrr..... Time to try combination of strategies I think.

You have to scratch the top off the bite first :scared: (that's my method, not the official use directions :D )

Simple, if someone with a lot of karma already and gives you some then you gain a lot quite quickly :D

As an update - I just visited my docs with my son, who also seems to swell up quite badly and he recommended the antihistamine approach so I am going to try that too.
