just thought i would let you all know that we have had a quote for a saturn vue SUV, on a 2004 plate for $702, now that seems good to us, what do you guys think.

have not tried anyone else yet, but looks good

It wont be on a 2004 plate....the plate goes with the owner not the car

$700ish seems a good deal, but make sure you know what coverage your are getting to make a fair comparison....$1 or 2M liability...collision only or fully comp? etc etc. Deductable level also has a big impact on premiums.

We just got our insurance renewal quote from state farm - after 2 years with them, with 2 cars, our home insurance, and life insurance with them, it's STILL $2600 per year for both cars (both 2006 - 1 SUV, 1 tiny runaround).

Freaking ridiculous.

this was $1 million liability and fully comp, so was very surprised about that, it was based on 8 years no claims though, is there anyone else i could try

I got our car & houes contents insurance through ING, they took into account my NCB from the UK (10 yrs+ which they transferred to 3 yrs Canadian) and the total cost is $120ish per month............on a 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander, I was presently supprised.

Sounds like a good deal to me. We also went with Johnsons as they recognised our UK NCB without any problems. I had heard fromother threads that different insurance companies require the NCB confirmation to be worded in a specific way, but we had no problems with Johnsons

Sounds like a reasonable deal (to get the 8 years no claims) Try local brokers too.

$2M liability is becoming more the norm now though, you might want to consider it.

Excuse for saying this BUT they saw you coming.
2008 Jeep Cherokee , what now amounts to 5yrs no claims $700 a year. (also with ING, also in calgary)

we used a Broker in Halifax, car insurance is still expensive - but much less than Johnsons have just quoted us. Together with a multi policy discount (house insurance too) makes it a much better price for us.

we are only looking for auto insurance at the moment, as we will be renting for 6 months

even without the multi policy discount - still $500 cheaper for both cars.
