Hey. I am a 42 year old carpenter/joiner from Northern Ireland. I have over 20 years experience in everything from foreman to maintence to roofing. My question is, are there many jobs available for a joiner of my age and experience in Canada? Is it best to go east or presumably west? Any insight or help would be much appreciated.

hi davor - and welcome to be.
in canada joiners are better known as finishing carpenters (doors, stairs, windows, trims and the like) or cabinet-makers (kitchens, built-in-units as well as classical furniture).
do a forum search, have a good thorough read at the wiki (light blue bar on top of the forum list) about job search and immigration - and for ideas about the job market (slowing even in the greater vancouver area, which is said to have a bumper because of the 2010 olympics) have a look at job search engines like jobbank.gc.ca, monster.ca, www.workopolis.com and the like.
