Re: Jobs in Vancouver
Yeah, this is not going to happen by posting on here. Believe me, I've tried.
1. Vancouver is an employers market - there is no shortage of general IT talent. You can land a job, but it requires coming here and networking. There *is* a shortage of senior computer programmers, mainly because it's a hard job that many consider more boring and difficult than other jobs in IT that offer similar pay. But it would take very specific skills to get sponsorship, so it really depends on what sort of IT work you do.
2. I have posted job postings on craigslist and what happens is you get literally 100 emails from people in India, China and other countries all looking for sponsorship. These emails go straight into the garbage. Employers will sponsor people, but only in certain circumstances, it usually depends on having specific skills or experience, or befriending the employer, or maybe an employer who is curious enough to do it.
Good luck!

Your best bet is to join Monster.CA, Indeed.CA, Workopolis, Glassdoor and also join Linkedin and network like crazy, of course send emails and apply for jobs but follow up with phone calls and plan to make a trip out to Vancouver to meet employers face to face
