Re: IT jobs in New Brunswick
yes, the marzipan is on the inside (ingenious people the Germans). In NB there was a significant influx of Germans and Dutch (still is). We have Adolf the butcher at the local farmers market who makes the best bratwurst sausages I have tasted outside Germany. We alway have german bakers who make great cakes

LOL not hardly... I've lived for six months at CFS Alert. Know where that is? I'll give ya a hint.... pick ANY direction to walk and you WILL be walking "south". Too far north for indigenous peoples, too far north even for polar bears.
What it comes down to is "personal choice". Since my back surgery the cold makes my back hurt... plain and simple. My choice is to move to Ecuador (working toward that end now).

Re: IT jobs in New Brunswick
I know that peope who are looking to move to New Brunswick are always concerned about work.
Here are some IT jobs currently advertised as vacant.
If you want to explore more broadly use NBJobs to set up alerts.
I know this is blatant advertising for NB but we need the people here.

One thing I have noticed is that although NB appears to need the people, just to "get through the door" you really have to put yourself out there more than you would in the UK. What I mean by this is that Canadian companies don't appear to readily recognise overseas skilled applicants (even Canadian's like me) via application through job sites and agencies alone. You have to be in their face by following up any application with a phone call or for half a chance at best, turn up at their door in person.
I think another thing that turns Brits off coming out there is the relatively low annual leave on offer. For me it is not the be all and end. I think the overall gain in quality of life more than balances this out. However, on paper it is not appealing and first impressions count right? So for NB companies/government to attract skilled workers they have to think harder on improving this or marketing themselves better. This may distract those from seeing the more attractive and lucrative West (higher cost of living noted).
